Anne Atherton Starrett Craig (1865–1943) was an American memoirist whose early life was shaped by the sea. She was born aboard her father’s ship in Singapore Harbor and spent part of her childhood traveling with her family, experiences that later became the heart of her writing.
Her memoir, A Little Daughter of the Revolution, recounts family life, voyages, and the people and places she encountered while growing up. The book was published after her death in 1961 by her children, helping preserve her firsthand view of nineteenth-century life at sea and in coastal New England.
Craig’s writing offers an intimate, warm portrait of a bygone era—especially the everyday adventures, challenges, and discoveries of a young girl raised in a seafaring family.
