Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, in 1861, she later lived in Hyde Park and studied at the Museum School in Boston. Alongside writing, she also illustrated her work, building a career that joined storytelling with visual art.
She wrote and illustrated 32 children's books, including the well-known Dorothy Dainty series. Her books were aimed at young readers and focused on cheerful, character-driven adventures that made her a familiar name in children's fiction of her era.
She died in 1934, but her books remain part of the long history of American children's literature, especially for readers interested in classic series fiction from the early 1900s.
