1854–1938
A close associate of Helena P. Blavatsky, she became known for fiercely defending early Theosophy and later writing on both Theosophy and Buddhism. Her life moved from London spiritual circles to Darjeeling, where she spent her final years.

by Alice Leighton Cleather
Alice Leighton Cleather was an English Theosophist and writer, born in England in April 1846 and remembered as an early member of the Theosophical Society. Sources agree that she joined the Society in 1885, later entered its Esoteric Section, and became part of Helena P. Blavatsky’s inner circle in London.
After Blavatsky’s death, Cleather remained one of her staunch defenders and wrote several books shaped by that loyalty, including H. P. Blavatsky As I Knew Her and H. P. Blavatsky: A Great Betrayal. She is also associated with Buddhist writing, including Buddhism, the Science of Life, showing how her interests reached beyond Theosophical debate into religion and philosophy more broadly.
Later in life she was connected with Darjeeling, where she died on May 4, 1938. The date given by the sources I found is 1846–1938, so although your note says 1854–1938, I could not confirm 1854 from the material available here.
