Born in Brooklyn in 1876, Alice Julia Christie Dillon was a teacher in the New York City public schools as well as an author. Archival records identify her parents as George and Isabelle Christie, note that she attended high school in Yonkers and later a teachers' training school in New England, and record that she married Sidney O. Dillon on August 9, 1915.
Dillon is most closely associated with the Story Hour Readers, a series created with fellow teacher Ida Coe. The books were designed for children and classroom use, reflecting her experience as an educator and her interest in making reading lively through stories.
She died on December 29, 1941. Surviving archival material includes correspondence, drawings, writings, and royalty reports, which suggest a working life centered on both teaching and children's literature.
