by Alexander Morrison
Alexander Morrison (1894–1931) was a mystery novelist whose work is associated with classic detective fiction of the 1920s. Very little biographical information about his life is readily documented.
His known novel, The Crookshaven Murder, was published by Houghton Mifflin in 1927. The story begins with a mystery writer staging an elaborate murder game for his guests, only for the supposed victim to be found genuinely dead when the lights come up.
The novel was noted for its unusual setup, country-house atmosphere, and rural police inspector whose unassuming manner conceals strong powers of observation. It appears to be Morrison’s only listed book.
