About the author

Born in Zikhron Ya'akov in 1888, he was part of the Aaronsohn family, a prominent family of early Jewish settlers in Palestine. Reference works and library records identify him as an author and activist, and place him within the family circle that also included his better-known siblings Aaron and Sarah Aaronsohn.

His name is most closely associated with With the Turks in Palestine, a book drawn from the World War I period. Sources also describe him as an early messenger connected with NILI, the pro-British underground network that operated under Ottoman rule, before he later went to the United States and campaigned against the Ottoman and German war effort.

He died in 1948. Although he is less famous than some members of his family, his writing remains a useful personal window into a turbulent moment in the history of Palestine and the wider Middle East.
