by A. W. (Aiden Wilson) Tozer
Born in Pennsylvania in 1897, Aiden Wilson Tozer was converted as a teenager after hearing a street preacher in Akron, Ohio. He went on to become a pastor in the Christian and Missionary Alliance, serving for decades as a preacher and church leader without the benefit of extensive formal education.
Tozer became widely known through his sermons, magazine work, and devotional books. He served as editor of Alliance Weekly and wrote in a direct, searching style that urged Christians toward holiness, worship, and a deeper knowledge of God. Among his best-known books are The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy.
He died in 1963, but his influence has lasted far beyond his lifetime. Readers still turn to Tozer for writing that feels both plainspoken and intense, shaped by a strong conviction that faith should be wholehearted, reverent, and lived out every day.
