author
Best known for a Dutch school history book on the ancient world and the Middle Ages, this little-known writer seems to have worked close to the classroom rather than the literary spotlight. The surviving record suggests a practical educator interested in making big stretches of history readable for young students.

by A. Nuiver, O. J. Reinders
A. Nuiver is a scarce figure in the historical record, but the available sources connect the name with Dutch educational writing in the 19th century. The clearest surviving work is Oudheid en Middeleeuwen. Verhalen en schetsen voor de hoogste klasse der volksschool, a history reader written with O. J. Reinders.
In the Project Gutenberg text of that book, Nuiver and Reinders are identified as head teachers in Groningen and Nieuwe Schans. The book was designed for upper primary pupils and presents ancient and medieval history in short, accessible pieces, which gives a good sense of Nuiver's practical, school-focused approach.
DBNL also lists biographical coverage for A. Nuiver in the Nieuw Nederlandsch biografisch woordenboek, but a clear portrait was not available from the pages I could verify. Because so little personal detail was easy to confirm, it is safest to remember Nuiver as a Dutch educator-author whose work was meant to bring history into the classroom.
