Henri Méhier de Mathuisieulx, who also published as A. de Mathuisieulx, was a French author born in 1860. Library records identify him as the writer of travel and exploration works including À travers la Tripolitaine and La Tripolitaine d'hier et de demain.
Archive and catalog sources connect him with missions in Tripolitania and Cyrenaica, showing that his writing grew out of direct travel in North Africa. That firsthand experience gives his books a documentary feel as well as a sense of movement and discovery.
Today, he is mostly remembered through historical travel literature and public-domain editions of his books. Readers interested in exploration, colonial-era travel writing, or North African history may find his work especially appealing.
