About the author

Born in Prince Edward Island in 1843, A. B. Simpson was a Canadian preacher, theologian, and author who later built much of his ministry in the United States. He first served as a Presbyterian minister, but became especially known for independent evangelistic work in New York City.

Simpson is best remembered as the founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a movement that grew out of missionary and evangelistic societies organized in the late 19th century. His work placed unusual energy on world missions, practical faith, and a message centered on Jesus Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.

Alongside his preaching, he wrote extensively, including books, articles, and hymns that gave his teaching a wide reach. He died in 1919, but his influence remained strong through the churches, schools, and readers shaped by the movement he began.
