Description

A weather‑worn log‑cabin stands alone in a spring‑bright forest, its towering pine casting long shadows over a yard watched by a solitary black cat. The house’s owner, a rugged and stoic farmer named Rouni, faces a looming threat: the powerful Luikki estate claims the land as its own, stirring old rumors of a curse that has haunted the homestead for decades. As his brother Mainu arrives with fresh firewood, the brothers exchange wary words about the looming dispute, while Rouni’s young wife Viemi lingers in the stove‑room, trying to bring life back into the austere home.

The story follows Rouni’s reluctant struggle between duty to his hard‑earned property and the ominous weight of tradition and superstition. With the forest’s ever‑present birds and the whisper of wind through the pines, the narrative weaves a quiet, tense portrait of rural life on the edge of change. Listeners are drawn into the palpable atmosphere of a place where the land, family ties, and ancient fears converge, setting the stage for the conflicts that will shape the characters’ futures.
