In a spacious countryside manor the day begins with awkward greetings and whispered schemes. The housekeeper Riikka runs the household with a firm hand, while the newly arrived shepherd boy Matti prowls the rooms, insisting he is the son of the disgraced former forest manager, Aadolf. His bold claims and crude humor clash with the more restrained members of the family, especially Aadolf’s second wife Juulia and his adult daughter Piia, setting a tone of witty tension.
The arrival of the local constable Mölsä adds another layer of comic friction, as the manor’s occupants juggle secret ambitions, crumbling reputations, and the ever‑present threat of scandal. As loyalties shift and misunderstandings multiply, the characters scramble to protect their status and uncover hidden connections, all while delivering sharp dialogue that captures the quirks of rural Finnish society in the early twentieth century.
