GEYSER TIME TABLE
Travelers from east or west can board the Union Pacific or its Oregon Short Line branch and reach the western edge of Geyserland. The line runs through Kansas City, Denver, Cheyenne, and Utah before a short hop to Salt Lake City and the park’s border. A steel bridge spans the Missouri River, and a sleek “Lane Cut Off” showcases early rail engineering. From the final Yellowstone station, a historic four‑horse stagecoach carries visitors into the park.
Inside, the scenery softens to gentle greens and rolling hills that rise toward towering peaks. Pines of many shades mingle with shadowed rivers, while occasional cascades sparkle like distant jewels. Steam rises from countless geothermal vents, cloaking mornings in ghostly veils, and Yellowstone Lake mirrors islands and sky in tranquil clarity.
The vintage stagecoach, still holding the park’s first right‑of‑way, offers a frontier feel with its high driver’s seat and rocking cradle. Passengers can watch elk, buffalo, and the occasional bear while the carriage rattles along. This blend of historic travel and wild landscape makes the opening day an unforgettable introduction.
