There Is A Reaper ...
Given one month to live, a wealthy stock-market gambler refuses to accept that death must remain a mystery. Convinced that knowledge of the future can defeat any situation, he spends a fortune obtaining a rare poison from an Amazonian tribe—one capable of killing a person while leaving the mind able to answer questions for several minutes afterward.
His chosen subject is a forgotten vagrant, but the experiment quickly becomes more than a calculated transaction. As the dead man describes a dim tunnel, an oppressive gloom, and an unseen presence he is compelled to await, the dying millionaire listens for information that might let him outmaneuver death itself. Yet the answers raise unsettling questions: Is this truly the world beyond life, and what exactly is waiting at the end of the tunnel? Tense, eerie, and driven by a ruthless narrator, this short science-fiction mystery explores the price of certainty when the unknown finally speaks.
