The Wheel Is Death
In a secluded valley beneath a turquoise, ringed moon, the People live in peace—free from ambition, invention, and the dangerous knowledge that once nearly destroyed humanity. Their simple life is guarded by an ancient priesthood that teaches obedience and forbids the pursuit of science.
But when young neophyte Ortho witnesses the execution of his friend Gor Zan, his faith begins to fracture. The priests claim Gor Zan threatened the People by awakening their curiosity, yet Ortho suspects the old men are protecting more than a peaceful way of life.
As High-Priest Kaliz reveals fragments of the forgotten past, Ortho learns that the world was transformed by human ingenuity—and brought to ruin by the same force. Haunted by questions he has been forbidden to ask, he must decide whether ignorance is truly the price of survival, or whether the People are being kept from a truth powerful enough to change their fate.
