Description

In the sleepy railway town of Beverley, a reluctant branch line ends at a single shaded street where modest shops somehow thrive despite lacking any obvious source of wealth. Andy Macleod, a former pathologist turned reluctant thief‑catcher, is drawn into a baffling case involving a missing cache of diamonds and a mysterious figure known only as “Four‑Eyed Scottie.” While he’s supposed to be enjoying a quiet holiday, his instincts pull him back into the hunt, and the local police eagerly hand him the details.

A striking young woman steps into the post office, her hand flashing a delicate emerald‑set ring that catches Andy’s eye. Her presence is both ordinary and unsettling, hinting at a hidden connection to the theft that has gripped the town. As Andy listens to the murmured conversation around her, he senses that this brief encounter may be the key that unlocks the larger mystery lurking in the valley’s shadows.
