Description

The Page twins, Janet and Phyllen, step off a train into the stately Hilltop Academy, a colonial mansion perched on a Virginia hill. Their first encounter with Miss Hull, the imposing headmistress, quickly turns into a quiet rebellion when the girls insist on sharing a room rather than being split. The sisters’ banter reveals a mix of teenage bravado and deep loyalty, setting a tone of clever wit under the watchful eyes of the school’s old‑world elegance.

Beyond the towering elms and twilight‑touched balconies, the twins reminisce about friends back in New York and await the arrival of Sally and Daphne, the other members of their close‑knit “Quartette.” Their anticipation is tinged with nervous excitement as they glimpse the rhythms of boarding‑school life—rigid routines, whispered rumors, and the promise of new alliances. As they settle into their new surroundings, the stage is set for friendships to blossom and gentle conflicts to surface, offering listeners a charming portrait of youthful camaraderie in a Southern setting.
