Description

A young French noble, swept from the turmoil of the 1830 Revolution, finds himself in a restless exile that carries him from the courts of Edinburgh and Prague to the sun‑drenched ruins of Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and the Holy Land. Educated in Rome and haunted by his father’s unyielding loyalty to a displaced monarch, he becomes a companion to the charismatic Prince Seravalle, a fellow dreamer whose own failed revolt lands him in a lengthy banishment. Their shared longing for a lost homeland pushes them toward distant horizons, setting the stage for an extraordinary western odyssey.

The pair’s journey eventually leads to the bustling ports of Veracruz and deep into the Mexican interior, where the lure of ancient ruins gives way to the rugged beauty of California’s coastline. There, they encounter the Shoshone (Snake) Indians, whose customs and dignity captivate the travelers and inspire a bold plan to aid the tribe after the prince’s banishment ends. The narrative weaves historical intrigue with vivid frontier encounters, promising listeners a richly textured adventure through a world of displaced royalty, daring exploration, and cross‑cultural friendship.
