The story of Little Black Quibba
The Story of
Little Black Quibba’s mother is very ill, and the doctor says only one thing can save her: twenty mangoes every day. Though he has never seen where mangoes grow, Quibba takes the biggest basket in the house and sets off to find them, determined to bring his mother the fruit she needs.
His search leads him through a long, tiring journey and into a dangerous jungle. A selfish elephant refuses to help, while a clever snake offers directions for a far more sinister reason. With quick thinking, courage, and a little help from some watchful frogs, Quibba must protect himself, reach a magnificent mango grove, and find a way home with his basket full. This lively classic children’s tale combines repetition, suspense, humor, and a brave young hero whose love for his mother carries him through every challenge.
