Description

In the quiet aftermath of a funeral, young Antony Grace finds his world upended by the sudden arrival of a peculiar stranger named Mr Rowle. Dressed in a long black coat and perpetually smoking a clay‑pipe, Rowle wanders through the rooms of the family estate, his inquisitive stare and cryptic comments turning the familiar house into a maze of secrets. The cook’s brusque welcome and the unsettling silence of the servants only deepen the sense that something unseen has taken root in the manor.

As Rowle settles into Antony’s father’s chair, he probes the boy’s grief with an odd mixture of sympathy and mystery, hinting at hidden histories and unspoken connections. Listeners are drawn into a tense, atmospheric first act where every whispered remark and smoky exhale suggests that the true story of Cedar Hill is just beginning to unfold.
