Description

Carson rents the ominous, gabled house on Derby Street seeking quiet for his next novel, but the creaking walls and whispered rumors of Abigail Prinn—a feared witch whose dark rites once scarred Salem—quickly seep into his thoughts. The locals speak of a cursed statue, savage sacrifices and a witch‑mark that made her immune to flame, while tenants flee the property after unsettling encounters with swarms of rats. When a misshapen black rat darts into the cellar, its unnerving, almost intelligent stare draws Carson deeper into the house’s forgotten past, prompting him to question whether the animal is merely a pest or a messenger of something far older.

The cellar’s dim light reveals the rat’s hesitant, almost ritualistic movements, as if it is dancing to an unseen rhythm. Carson’s curiosity turns to unease, and he feels an invisible pressure urging him toward the hidden “Witch Room.” As he watches the creature disappear into a wall‑hole, the whispered legends about Prinn’s vengeful deity seem less like folklore and more like a looming threat waiting to awaken.
