The Last Supper
The Last Supper
A millennium after Earth has reversed on its axis, the planet is locked in a relentless struggle between advancing seas of snow and ice. A visiting expedition searches the frozen wastelands for survivors, hoping to preserve the human race by carrying a few remaining people to another world.
When anthropologist Guldran spots a woman fleeing through the storm with a child in her arms, he sees a chance for personal glory. Ignoring strict orders to call for help, he pursues her alone, convinced that hunger and kindness will bring her within reach. But the woman is running from more than the cold, and her desperate flight hints at a terror the expedition does not yet understand. Compact, atmospheric, and grimly suspenseful, this science-fiction tale builds toward a startling encounter between advanced civilization and humanity’s harshest possible future.
