Description

In this lyrical drama set in the imagined kingdom of Fiori, the audience is introduced to King Lorenzo, a ruler coping with the loss of his queen and the fragile emotions of his young daughter. The opening scenes unfold in a sun‑dappled palace garden where music, embroidery, and whispered worries reveal the court’s uneasy balance between tradition and the yearning for new hope. As the king’s advisers and courtiers debate the prospect of a second marriage, the tension between personal grief and political duty becomes palpable.

The garden gathering quickly turns lively when Carlotta, a sharp‑tongued servant, sparks a heated exchange with the gentle flautist Fidelio, exposing rivalries that run beneath polite conversation. Through playful banter and a melancholy song that blends summer’s brightness with winter’s chill, the play hints at deeper undercurrents of love, loyalty, and the fear of losing what remains of the old order. Listeners are invited to follow the court’s intricate dance of words and emotions as they await the king’s next decision.
