Description

A quiet summer evening finds a modest narrator haunted by the mysteries surrounding his famous great‑uncle, a man who vanished on the red planet and was presumed dead. When a terse telegram summons him to a Richmond hotel, curiosity outweighs caution, and he boards the train that will bring him face‑to‑face with the legend himself. The reunion is startling: the man who once roamed the deserts of Barsoom appears unchanged, his eyes still sharp, his smile as confident as ever.

Carter reveals that he has once again crossed the void to Mars, carrying a secret that could alter the fate of both worlds. He hints at a newfound ability to travel the stars at will, yet his heart remains bound to the dying planet and the princess he loves. As he prepares to depart, he promises to leave behind a manuscript that details his latest perilous quest, inviting listeners to journey into a realm of ancient cults, hidden chambers, and the relentless fight for survival on a world on the brink.
