The God-Plllnk
THE GOD-PLLLNK
On the tiny Martian moon Phobos, two devoted priests await the arrival of a mysterious visitor from the heavens. Grg and Yrl have traveled across crater walls and frozen dunes to greet what they believe is a divine messenger—an object shaped remarkably like their own octopidal species, yet gleaming with an otherworldly brilliance. They hope it will reveal the secrets of the universe, teach them to fly, or perhaps answer their most urgent prayers about the deadly, irritating parasite known as the plllnk.
When the “God” descends in fire, its rough landing only deepens their awe. Its damaged body, strange markings, and unfamiliar movements are interpreted through the customs and beliefs of a civilization waiting for cosmic guidance. As the priests cautiously approach, the meeting promises to become a lively collision between expectation and reality, with both sides likely to misunderstand what the other sees as obvious. This witty science-fiction tale turns first contact into a playful examination of faith, appearances, and the dangers of assuming the universe shares your point of view.
