Description

Henri de Launay is the shy, book‑loving son of a daring soldier, raised amid the quiet woods of Anjou while his father’s exploits kept his mother uneasy. Though trained in swordplay and riding, his mind drifts toward poetry and philosophy, and a chance encounter with the lively Mlle Céleste ignites a restless longing for something beyond the library walls. Determined to win the capricious lady’s favor, Henri sets out for Paris, hoping the road will bring him both adventure and a chance to prove himself.

The journey quickly turns from leisurely travel to a series of unexpected perils that test Henri’s wits as much as his sword. Along the way he encounters mysterious strangers, puzzling disappearances, and the looming shadow of his family’s reputation, all while trying to keep his heart steady amid Céleste’s whims. Listeners will follow his early missteps and growing courage, discovering how a scholarly young man confronts the bright face of danger before the story truly unfolds.
