Part 3
An alien scout from Io slips silently into a remote forest, its ship disappearing into the night while the world below remains oblivious. From the shadows it listens for the faint hum of a hidden psychic network that already links human minds across the continent. The creature’s mission is simple yet perilous: assess the strength of this nascent telepathy before a larger invasion begins. As it watches the landscape, the alien senses both the promise and the danger of a species that can sense thoughts despite any physical disguise.
Inside the craft, the visitor painstakingly sculpts a human likeness, blending alien flesh with fabricated skin tones, hair, and clothing. Every imperfection is judged against the risk of exposure—failure would mean a gruesome end, neuron by neuron. With the disguise finally complete, the being steps onto the forest floor, ready to test whether the subtle currents of human thought will reveal its true nature or allow it to pass unnoticed.
