Aeneas, the steadfast leader of the doomed Trojans, sails away from the ruins of his city, driven by a fate that demands he find a new homeland for his people. A violent storm, conjured by a vindictive goddess, shatters his fleet, leaving him the sole survivor to reach the distant shores of Carthage. There, the sea calms and the gods intervene, granting him a chance to regroup and seek hospitality among strangers.
In Carthage, the powerful queen Dido welcomes the weary refugees, her curiosity quickly turning to a deep, uneasy attraction to the foreign prince. Aeneas shares the tale of Troy’s fall and his long, perilous journey, while unseen divine rivalries continue to shape his every step. The opening act sets a tone of destiny, duty, and the clash between mortal longing and the relentless will of the gods.
