The adventures of Dumpy Dimple and his dog!

Dumpy Dimple may be short and round, but he has the courage of a great explorer—and with his fearless dog, Rag, beside him, no adventure is too big. Armed with a rifle, sword, flag, telescope, and a makeshift camp built from sacks and boxes, the pair set out to defend their laager and face whatever dangers lurk beyond the garden fence.

Their expedition brings them face to face with a gigantic elephant, a savage bunny, enemy soldiers, and a grateful prisoner in need of rescue. Between battles, they pause for tea, share a crust with Rag, and show that bravery is best supported by kindness and good food. Told in lively rhyme and packed with playful action, this spirited story captures the boundless imagination of a child at play, where a four-wheel horse can gallop into battle and an ordinary afternoon becomes a campaign of heroic proportions.
