Description

The play opens in the grand hall of a fairy‑tale palace, where stiff‑laced courtiers whisper and bow in exaggerated fashion. They chatter about Princess Imandra’s latest tantrums—her refusal to wear silks, her desire to run barefoot among the shepherd girls. The servants try desperately to reshape her into a proper royal, while Imandra tears up the scripts of courtly etiquette and declares she prefers mud over jewels. Their comic back‑and‑forth sets a lively, slightly chaotic tone that pulls the listener straight into the kingdom’s mischievous atmosphere.

Imandra’s daydreams drift toward a simple pasture, where a shepherd boy plays a reed pipe and the hills echo with laughter. A rumor spreads that a mysterious prince from a distant realm may soon arrive, promising an adventure beyond palace walls. Listeners are invited to follow her impulsive schemes, the witty banter of the court, and the first sparks of a quest that could change her view of royalty. The lively dialogue and playful rhyme keep the story light while hinting at deeper wishes.
