SEE?
Eddie and his companions live by the rhythms of the road, moving from harvest to harvest and making do with whatever they can find. There’s the fallen Professor, the barefoot Sacks, formidable and unwashed Dirty Pete, and Eddie himself, whose magnificent beard has made conventional society more trouble than it’s worth. Together, they form an unlikely but loyal traveling fraternity, held together by experience, humor, and a few unwritten laws.
Their routine changes when Dirty Pete returns to camp carrying a strange object he hopes to sell. None of them can agree on what it is—or whether it should be anywhere near them. As curiosity clashes with fear and greed, the Professor’s learning may be the only thing preventing the group from turning on itself. Told in Eddie’s earthy, conversational voice, this offbeat science-fiction tale combines hobo camaraderie, sharp social observations, and an unsettling mystery that begins with one seemingly ordinary find.
