Description

In the early summer of 1744, a British force pushes deep into the rugged Breton coast, its men marching over steep, wind‑blown hills toward the besieged port of St. Malo. The commander’s orders clash with the desperate plight of the local peasants, caught between a threatening British manifesto and an equally severe French ultimatum. As cannon fire rattles the cliffs and the tide swallows the narrow causeway, the troops find their own resolve tested by the harsh landscape and the shadows of war.

Amid the chaos, Lieutenant Charters navigates more than just battle plans; a chance encounter with a compassionate nurse sparks a tentative bond that grows beneath the smoke of artillery. Their growing affection is tangled with rumors of secret rendezvous, whispered hopes, and the lingering fear that love may prove as fleeting as the fleeting peace promised by the commanders. With each step toward Dol, the pair must decide whether duty or desire will steer their hearts through the unfolding conflict.
