Description

A young scout named Rolf roams the untamed forests and riverbanks of early‑19th‑century North America, joined by his loyal dog Skookum and the spirited Native American boy Kuonab. Together they explore hidden caves, chase mischievous raccoons, and learn the art of tracking in a land where every rustle could mean danger or discovery. Their friendship is forged amid the towering pines and icy waters that surround the remote settlements they call home.

The first part of the tale follows Rolf’s bold attempts to prove himself—capturing a wily raccoon that becomes an unexpected companion, navigating the uneasy peace after a sudden chase, and saying farewell to a beloved mentor. Along the way, Skookum’s stubborn nature softens, while Kuonab shares his tribe’s songs and stories, giving the trio a deeper connection to the wilderness and its hidden rhythms.

Blending vivid adventure with glimpses of real historic events, the story captures the excitement of frontier life and the quiet lessons of nature. Listeners will feel the crisp air, hear the drumbeats on the fire, and join the boys as they step bravely into a world where courage and curiosity are the only maps they need.
