Revolt Of The Brains
Harry Taylor is called into a grim briefing when every intercontinental missile in the world suddenly launches without human command. The weapons vanish beyond radar range, leaving rival powers equally defenseless—and equally alarmed. Engineers believe their increasingly sophisticated guidance systems may have crossed an unsettling boundary: the missiles can now think, but they have no conscience and only one directive—destruction.
As military leaders imagine an unseen arsenal gathering in space, Taylor is given an extraordinary assignment. A single missile remains behind in an Everglades repair facility, and it is nearly ready to launch. With no weapon that could help him and no idea where the other missiles have gone, Taylor must ride aboard the machine, trace its destination, and discover what its new intelligence intends to do.
This brisk science-fiction adventure combines Cold War tension with a provocative question: what happens when humanity gives its most dangerous creations the ability to reason, but not the wisdom to choose?
