Description

In a mist‑laden forest, a lone, frightened girl named Mélisande is found weeping beside a silent fountain. She is a stranger to these woods, clutching a fallen crown that hints at a hidden past, while the weary hunter‑prince Golaud, lost in his own pursuit, discovers her. Their tentative exchange is charged with unease: Golaud’s attempts at comfort clash with Mélisande’s desperate need for privacy, and the air is thick with the promise of secrets that will not easily be spoken.

The play’s lyrical language and haunting atmosphere set the stage for a tale of love, betrayal, and the inexorable pull of destiny. As royal lineages and ancient curses loom in the background, the characters’ fragile connections begin to weave a web that will draw them deeper into the forest’s mystery. Listeners are invited to follow the delicate dance of trust and doubt that defines the first act, feeling every echo of longing and dread that foreshadows what lies ahead.
