In the sweltering summer of 1917, a small Finnish town hums with the uneasy optimism of a world on the brink of change. Liinu, a young kitchen maid, moves through sun‑lit rooms, washing dishes while the scent of food mixes with the buzz of flies. Outside, rumors of revolution and a fallen emperor swirl, but inside her modest world the days are marked by hard work and the rare promise of free time.
When the town’s fire brigade hosts a lively dance, Liinu discovers a new rhythm both in the steps and in her heart. The name of her fiancé, Nikolai, begins to echo beyond a simple promise, stirring feelings she has never known. As she dries the last plates, she senses that love may finally break through the ordinary walls of her everyday life.
