ROINILAN TALOSSA
ENSIMMÄINEN NÄYTÖS.
Set against the twilight of a midsummer night, the play opens on a lively village clearing where young couples whirl to folk tunes beneath a moonlit lake. The atmosphere crackles with laughter and teasing as friends gossip about secret rendezvous, while a strange, half‑whispered tale of phantom riders sneaks into their conversation. Through quick, witty exchanges we meet a colorful cast: the boisterous Peltola, the proud Loviisa, the mischievous boys Vappu and Matti, and a mysterious itinerant named Hoppulainen whose sudden entrance promises music and mayhem.
As the night deepens, the merriment gives way to unease. A faint, unexplained rustle in the woods hints at something hidden, and the villagers' banter turns to whispered speculation about a potential robbery. The play balances humor with a growing sense of suspense, drawing listeners into a tightly knit community where humor, rumor, and the threat of danger intermingle, setting the stage for a clash between youthful bravado and the darker forces that linger just beyond the firelight.
