The freighter Saturn has just been pulled off its routine routes for a surprise, ship‑wide physical exam. Captain Hanson—seasoned, stubborn, and a little past his prime—meets a pair of stern corporate medics whose orders could end his active flying days. Alongside him are the ever‑enthusiastic Lancelot Biggs, fresh from a dubious soap‑making venture, and his uncle, the slick vice‑president who promises the crew a fresh purpose.
When the examination concludes, the corporation reveals a new, high‑stakes mission: a delicate operation on the mineral‑rich world of Iris, where a band of privateers has turned the native Irisians into forced labor. The crew’s reputation and the ship’s celebrated record have earned them the assignment, and the stakes feel suddenly personal. As the Saturn prepares for this daring intervention, old loyalties are tested and the promise of redemption hangs in the balance.
