Description

The story opens at a sun‑drenched afternoon tea in San Francisco, where debutante Josie Herrick is celebrating her coming of age amidst a swirl of perfume and roses. Nervous young Ross Wilbur, unsure of his place among the chatter of ladies and their mothers, finds himself drawn into a brief, flirtatious exchange with Josie over chocolate and stuffed olives. Their banter masks an undercurrent of impatience, as both sense something larger pulling them away from the drawing‑room. Ross’s reluctant departure hints that the genteel world of parlors will soon give way to a different kind of horizon.

Beyond the elegant drawing‑rooms lies the sleek schooner Lady Letty, the vessel that will carry Ross, Josie and a colorful crew—including the fierce girl captain Moran—into the unpredictable Pacific. As the ship prepares to leave port, rumors of a shanghai plot and looming conflict begin to surface, promising a clash of wills on the open sea. The narrative promises a blend of high‑society intrigue and rugged maritime adventure, inviting listeners to set sail before the calm of the tea party fully fades.
