Missing Link

The scout cruiser hovers above the jade‑streaked canopy of Gienah III, its red‑black hull glinting in the butter‑yellow light of a setting sun. Section chief Umbo Stetson barks orders as he prepares to wipe the planet clean, while fresh‑out junior field man Lewis Orne fumbles with a strange white uniform meant for a different assignment. Their uneasy partnership is punctuated by the hum of alien insects and the weight of a micro‑communication implant that scratches his neck.
