Description

A bustling third‑floor hallway in a Budapest apartment building sets the stage for a lively comedy of manners. The Grunovszky family’s entrance is a daily spectacle, their servants darting about while neighbors chatter about a coveted silk dress that never seems to arrive. Gossip swirls like steam from the building’s kitchen, mixing scandal, financial worries and the odd‑ball remarks of the ever‑watchful “kávésné.”

At the heart of the commotion is Terka, a quick‑witted maid with a flair for mimicry and a talent for soothing both children and ailing elders. She becomes the unofficial go‑between for curious residents, the enigmatic Vandrák brothers, and the mysterious benefactor who promised the elusive garment. As the building prepares for a civic celebration, the tension over the dress heightens, revealing the quirks, ambitions, and secret alliances of this tightly knit community. The story promises a vivid portrait of early‑20th‑century urban life, peppered with humor, social satire, and a hint of intrigue.
