Two restless boys, Jussi (seven) and Lassi (six), spend their days wandering the edges of a small Finnish town, turning ordinary streets, fences and furniture into endless playgrounds. Through their own chatter the story captures the vivid, often contradictory thoughts of children on the brink of school—yearning for freedom while feeling the first weight of adult expectations. The narrator lets the boys' language show how they see the world as a big, rolling sphere full of possibilities, even as grown‑up rules begin to press in.
Later, Jussi and Lassi reminisce about snow forts, farm animals and secret games, comparing those memories to the new duties of reading, writing and eventual schooling. Their playful arguments about what it means to become ‘proper’ people reveal both the innocence of their imagination and a subtle rebellion against a world that wants to cage it. Listeners will hear the boys’ humor and yearning, a snapshot of childhood that feels both specific to its time and universally relatable.
