John Harper's Insight

John Harper is thirty-three, intelligent, solitary, and trapped in a life that feels painfully small. Then, one morning, he sees a startling television broadcast—apparently from the future—announcing him as a celebrated concert pianist. The vision lasts only moments, but it awakens an unshakable certainty that his ordinary existence is not the life he was meant to lead.

To the people at the machine shop, Harper’s decision to abandon steady work for a piano career seems like madness. He has no training, no proven talent, and little money, yet he refuses to dismiss what he has seen. Rejected by music teachers and laughed at by those who know him, Harper rents a piano and begins pursuing a destiny that may be impossible—or may offer the first clue to a mystery involving time, ambition, and the strange power of the mind.
