Description

The narrator grows up surrounded by the echo of Revolutionary‑war legends that swirl through family stories and the very stones of a valley farm. Childhood memories of beating linen on a brook and hearing of a hidden farmer evading Brant’s warriors set the tone for a vivid portrait of a region caught in the turmoil of the 1770s. The early chapters follow a young enthusiast whose imagination spins around the infamous battle of Oriskany, and whose own rebellious streak lands him in school trouble.

Drawing on decades of painstaking research and the support of a fledgling historical society, the author weaves together personal anecdotes, eyewitness accounts, and local folklore into a richly textured narrative. Listeners will hear the clash of muskets, the whispered strategies of militia leaders, and the rugged landscape that shaped a fledgling nation, all presented with a conversational flare that makes history feel immediate and alive.
