IN A MATTER OF NUISANCES
Court Week is already keeping Sheriff Bill Ludden busy when Croup Kadem rides into Tipping Rock, firing his gun, shouting threats, and tormenting everyone in sight. Kadem’s reputation is fearsome, but Ludden knows the loudmouthed troublemaker is mostly bluff—and that ordinary fines and jail time have never stopped him from causing trouble at the worst possible moment.
With a rustler campaign demanding his attention, Ludden needs an unorthodox solution. He finds it in Dud Pilarn, a swaggering gunman with a deadly reputation, a notched revolver, and plenty of vanity to match his bravado. By making Pilarn a special deputy and sending him after Kadem, Ludden hopes to set one nuisance against another. What follows promises a lively frontier clash of bluster, nerve, and carefully calculated lawmanship.
