I, the Vampire
Darkness is settling over Hollywood, where glamorous parties, movie premieres, and studio publicity conceal something far more sinister. Mart, an assistant director at Summit Pictures, arrives at a lavish hilltop gathering and hears excited gossip about the mysterious Chevalier Futaine, a foreign newcomer whose past is shrouded in rumor and whose very appearance seems almost impossible to capture.
But the evening’s real unease comes from the recent death of Sandra Colter, a beloved actress whose unexplained illness reduced her to a shadow of herself. As Mart tries to steady Sandra’s grieving husband, star Hess Deming, he begins to wonder why she feared fire yet insisted on being cremated—and whether her death was truly natural. With fog closing in around the film capital and a strange new production promising to make Futaine a star, Mart is drawn toward a menace that may be stalking Hollywood’s brightest names.
