Horsesense Hank Cleaver is a plain‑spoken farmer turned government advisor, prized for his uncanny ability to solve scientific puzzles using nothing more than straightforward, horse‑logic. Though he never finished high school, his common‑sense reasoning earned him a chair at Midland University and a key position in Washington’s wartime research office. In the capital he works side‑by‑side with the brilliant but overbearing physicist Jim Jamieson, whose theories about time spark Hank’s curiosity.
When Jamieson claims that history is immutable, Hank can’t resist the notion of rewriting a single moment to halt the rise of the Nazis. Together they stare at the mysterious “Book of Time,” a supposed record of every event, and debate whether a simple act could alter the war’s course. The story follows Hank’s reluctant foray into speculative physics, where his down‑to‑earth instincts clash with high‑falutin equations, setting the stage for an unexpected adventure through possibility itself.
