Description

In the rugged stretch of the Snake River valley, an aging prospector named Peaceful Hart has swapped pick‑axes for irrigation ditches, turning a daunting bluff into a modest ranch that teeters against the sheer granite walls. He watches his five restless sons grow wild with the kind of fierce play his own quiet temperament never understood, while his steady wife, Phoebe, keeps the home’s milk house humming with hidden jars of cake, cheese, and cream. The landscape is haunted by coyotes, tarantulas and the occasional outlaw who once lingered in the shadows of the cliffs, stealing only what the night would allow.

Amid this tough frontier life, a reputation spreads of a “good Indian” who moves through the same canyon with an uncanny respect for both the land and the people who settle it. While the Hart family debates the old stories of conflict and uneasy peace, the presence of this Native ally hints at a deeper, unspoken code that could reshape the fragile balance between settlers and the surrounding world. Listeners are invited to follow the early days of the Hart ranch as curiosity, danger, and unexpected friendship begin to stir beneath the quiet surface.
