Description

A mysterious, planet-wide vibration has driven humanity into madness. Known as the Whispering Death, the phenomenon attacks the nervous system, while the destruction of Earth’s protective atmosphere exposes survivors to deadly solar radiation. In the deserted streets of Greater New York, power magnate John Cortland waits inside a shielded room as civilization teeters on the brink.

Scientists have discovered that iron can block the fatal vibrations, but their only hope is a desperate experiment requiring the combined energy of Earth’s greatest power stations. If Cortland’s plan succeeds, an immense artificial signal may counter the unknown force behind the disaster—though the attempt could destroy the generators and leave no second chance. As the final switch is thrown, the crisis reaches beyond Earth, where a distant observer named Phor watches events unfold through a matter shield. Combining planetary catastrophe, bold scientific speculation, and an ominous cosmic perspective, this short science-fiction adventure begins with humanity’s last stand against an enemy it cannot yet understand.
