Description

At the heart of a quiet Scottish glen lies Birkwoodbrae, a modest but charming homestead tended by two orphaned sisters. Mary, with her striking violet‑blue eyes and a spirit as industrious as the land she cultivates, balances the demands of farm work with a deep compassion for the neighbors who come to her for aid. Her younger sister Ellinor, equally handsome and thoughtful, shares the household’s daily rhythms, often found sketching the surrounding garden while their faithful fox‑terrier Jack lounges nearby.

Together they have turned their modest inheritance into a thriving little enterprise, earning respect from the nearby village and the solitary minister who watches over them. Yet the estate’s future is tangled in an old entail, a legal knot that threatens to pull the sisters’ hard‑won stability into uncertainty. As whispers of the distant Colville of the Guards begin to drift through the hills, the sisters must decide how far they are willing to go to protect the home they have lovingly built.
